Layout - Find your Happy Place

This is the page I made about the ADML retreat last April.  I haven't done a double layout for a long time!  It was quite difficult to photograph the whole thing in one LOL.

The papers are from stash, but I am fairly sure that the two main background papers are from Marion Smith.  I used a Kaisercraft die along the edges of the chequered connecting panel.  The journalling panels are either Kaisercraft or Bo Bunny and the Art quote stamp is from Deep Red.  I die-cut the title with a stitched alpha form Dienamics.
The photos are of the amount Karen and I pack into the car, the crop room and a group photo :-)  Looking forward to doing it again this year!!!

Once upon a Time

The third Little Girl album is finished!!! Before yesterday's deadline too. But then we didn't take it over to them because they had had 20 screaming kids at the party and we thought it wouldn't be a good time :-)

This is a double LO of LG in her Snow White dress, I thought of the DCWV "Once upon a time" range as soon as I saw the pics, but the paper with "Once..." on it looked awful when put next to the "there was a beautiful princess" paper. So I cut the "fairy" paper into two pieces, stuck it on top of the two "old paper" papers and cut out the two phrases from their respective backgrounds. Then I put the photos on and was going to leave it at that, but they were just 'floating', so I put some swirly crystals and some flowers (shudder!) across the pages to make them flow better. I am really pleased with the way it has come out, even though it was nothing like my original plan!

Free Spirits

It doesn't come much simpler than this! The title is taken from the name on the boat in the background and cut out on the robo, as are the brackets. The paper is probably K&Co, so that's some more of my stash busted!

I have finally received some photos from LG's mum - talk about getting blood from a stone ........ I supplement their pictures with the ones my DH takes. Part of the problem is that they don't actually take very many, apparently there are no Christmas photos this year for instance. But then that is why we started this whole thing, eight years ago with Big Sister, so that they would have something to look back on.

Beach LO

Another Little Girl page :-) It is quite difficult to make a scrapbook for someone else - no clues as to what or where the events are, names of people are a mystery ...... you get the idea. LG's mum sent over a whole batch of photos, some were in Cornwall, some in Ibiza, and I think there was a third beach in there somewhere judging from the shooting dates on the picture ...... I picked out a couple of pics and made single LOs with them, then lumped the rest into this one generic beach page :-)

The papers are Basic Grey (Two Scoops) and the title is cut on the robo from Bazzill (Erie). I doodled dots around the edges of the paper blocks to make them pop from the background and then drew lines between all the blocks. Shouldn't have done those lines freehand! It didn't look good at all ...... so I bought some ric rac at the Cardinal Colours crop and stuck it over the lines LOL. And actually, I think it looks better - I do love it when hiding a mistake results in something good I would otherwise never have thought of - a "serendipity" moment :-)

Trip to Devon LO

This LO went through a lot of changes ...... I wanted to stick ribbon down at angles round all four sides, but having done two strips, I realised that the DSST showed right through the ribbon - I hadn't realised it was so sheer. It was obvious that it would have to be covered somehow, so first I cut some scrolls in bazzill metallic copper to put over the top. This didn't really work, but I decided that the scrolls looked much better down the side anyway, especially with the navy buttons :-) Next I painted over the ribbon with bronze. That was OK, but still not quite right.

At this point I discovered that having the scrolls down the side meant that the photos I had printed out at 6 x 4 were too big to all fit in the remaining space and I didn't want to obscure the scrolls ....so.... I printed them out again, half the size!

I was stuck on how to do the title, especially as my craft robo blade is in need of replacement and I didn't think it would handle bazzill. So I used some thickers for the "3 go mad" and found some thinner turquoise card in my stash which the robo managed to cut. The journalling was printed onto safmat and stuck to the copper and turquoise card. I didn't want the title "floating" in space so I stamped a background using rings and swirls, in three colours, though the two pale aqua ones look almost identical..... never mind :-)

I still wasn't happy with the ribbon lines though, and suddenly inspiration struck - I used a border punch (EK Success, Effervescence I think) - then cut the punched strip very close to the edge of the design and stuck it over the ribbon. Perfect :-)

All in all, this has taken me several days to get my head round - I am really glad it's finished!
