Third Time Lucky - Sarah's Cards October sketch challenge

I am entering the sketch challenge over at Sarah's Cards this month, the details are here:
http://sarahscardsltd.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/october-sketch-challenge.html

This page shows DS1's driving test pass certificate!  He passed on his third go and I am very proud of him - also he is now able to pick me up after an office girlie night out, which is very handy LOL.

The papers are Basic Grey "Two Scoops" - I bought lots of this when it came out, but had got a bit fed up with it, so it was nice to find a good sketch to use some of it up!  The title is robo-cut and the border is done with a punch borrowed from Scrappy Sarah at the Cardinal Colours crop last weekend - I thought it was very appropriate since DS1 is such a star for passing the test!  I stamped a journalling spot from Stamps Away.

Cardinal Colours weekend crop - "One of a Kind" class

I went to the Cardinal Colours weekend crop in Stone Cross at the weekend.  As usual, I had a great time, a big thank you to Jill and the team :-)
I chose to do one of the classes, a layout taught by Linda, details are here.  We punched, cut and layered to produce this beautiful page.  I especially like the 'shadow' effect of the butterflies, done by placing a black butterfly under the coloured one.  It was also the first time I had used a Martha Stewart punch around the page set, there is just one little mistake there ..... never mind ..... LOL.
Thank you Linda (and glamourous assistant Lynn!) for a great class!

Punch crazy LO !

OK, it's a cliched title ...... but I like it :-) This LO is about the Cardinal Colours crop I go to every month.

I drew round a Bazzill large scalloped circle onto some paper (My Minds Eye) and cut it out. This went onto a sheet of Bazzill Aqua cardstock. The inner circle was cut using a large circle die, then I cut around the edge of the resulting aperture to make a frame. The pattern is made up of Bazzill Juneberry and Bluegrass punched out into diamonds and circles. I put more diamonds at each of the scallop intersections and then doodled dots all around the scallops. The title is an American Crafts Thickers alphabet, I thought it needed to be "joined" somehow so I punched out the wave shapes. The scrolls in the corner are made using a Woodware punch, as is the frame at the top corner - I punched a small scalloped circle, then carefully punched a larger one around it to make the frame. A bit of journalling and it was done.

Butterfly ATC

This is an ATC I recently swapped, I can blog it safely as it has been received :-)

I had done the background quite a while ago and then got stuck on it, so it went in my "what shall I do with this" box. The butterfly is one of several which I had asked DH to laser cut from clear acrylic, I had planned to try colouring them with alcohol ink. The two ideas suddenly came together! I added the text - printed on safmat - and a bling trail for the butterfly.

This will be the last blog post for a couple of days, as I am off to the Cardinal Colours retreat this weekend - and I have sooooooooo much packing to do........ :-)

Day Five - Bread and Whine

OK Sy, suspense over - we did bake some choc chip muffins last night!

Today I had a wine delivery from Tesco, due to be delivered any time between 7am and 7pm ..... so I got up early (yawn!) and waited... and waited.....

In between, I did quite a lot of baking - I actually used two of my new tins from Lakeland, something of a record for me, usually I buy them, put them away, then discover them again later :-) I made an onion granary loaf, some mini sponge flan bases and some multi grain bread rolls. Also got five more patchwork blocks done - only 147 left to go :-)

The wine man finally arrived at about 4:30, and was a bit put out when I wanted to check the delivery - he wanted me to sign the little electronic gizmo without even seeing any paper work! Oh the paper will be in the box, he said. Hence the 'whine' in the title LOL. I opened the box and checked anyway :-)

Tomorrow is our monthly craft day, this month it's at my house. Sy turned up about an hour ago and she is offering helpful suggestions as I type LOL. Then Sunday will be the crop at Cardinal Colours, so I should have some LOs to post then.

So endeth the 5th and last day of my holiday. Look Sy, finally a baking blitz!

"Last one to £100 is a sissy!"

What a weekend! The first one of every month is always pretty hectic, as me and some of my crafty friends have a craft day on the Saturday and go to a crop on the Sunday. Karma-Sy travels down from London, so it makes sense for her to combine the two days into one trip, but it does make for an exhausting weekend :-)

This time was even more hectic than usual, as we had decided to go on a shopping trip to a craft shop, to make up for not being able to get to the Ally Pally stamping and scrapbooking show. Karma-Sy and KraftyKaren had never been to the Glitter Pot (in Scaynes Hill) and I had told them how great it is, so that was where we headed as soon as KraftyKaren got to my place on the Saturday morning. With the battle cry of "Last one to £100 is a sissy!", in we went..........

Well, I came in under budget - ahem - it was a large budget :-) Karma-Sy won the sissy title as she never even got close to the £100 :-) I spent most of the rest of the day admiring what I had bought, and printing photos to make up page kits for the next day's crop.

On Sunday we went off to the crop in Polegate, run by Jilly of Cardinal Colours. I managed to finish two LOs and almost complete four others, they just need titles and a bit of journalling.

I now need to reach my monthly challenge target of 10 layouts, 4 down, 6 to go!
